In order to comply with new rules, we use a system of classifying the different types of cookies which we use on the Website, or which may be dropped by third parties through our websites. The classification was developed by the International Chamber of Commerce UK and explains more about which cookies we use, why we use them, and the functionality you will lose if you decide you don't want to have them on your device. Please be reassured that we are working on other privacy and cookie-related improvements to the Website. We set out details of the cookies used through the website below.

    1. Cookies used on the website

      1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies enable services you have specifically asked for. For those types of cookies that are strictly necessary, no consent is required.

These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies services you have asked for, like shopping baskets, cannot be provided.

For example we utilise Google Analytics and Econda Webtracking cookies to help us understand how customers arrive at our site, browse or use our site and highlight areas where we can improve areas such as navigation, shopping experience and marketing campaigns. The data stored by these cookies never shows personal details from which your individual identity can be established.

      2. Performance cookies

These cookies collect anonymous information on the pages visited. By using the Website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

These cookies collect information about how visitors use the Website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don't collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how the Website works.

        Econda
Olsen uses the web analytics service Econda in order to make the website as interesting and attractive as possible by adjusting the design of the site to fit the usage patterns of our users. Econda uses cookies and tracking pixels, to carry out the analysis of usage patterns.

To ensure the tailored design and optimum performance of this website, solutions and technologies by econda GmbH (www.econda.de) not only collect and store anonymised data, but also utilize this data to compile usage profiles by means of pseudonyms. Cookies can be used for this purpose which make it possible for an Internet browser to be recognized. Without the express consent of a visitor, however, usage profiles will not be stored together with data pertaining to the pseudonymous visitor. IP addresses, in particular, are rendered indecipherable immediately after receipt, which makes it impossible to match a usage profile with an IP address.

For more information about Econda, whose data protection and technology, visit http://www.econda.com/econda/company/data-protection/

If you do not want Econda to create an anonymous user profile of your activities on the website, you can disable the web analytics by Econda by clicking here: http://www.econda.com/econda/company/data-protection/revocation-of-data-storage/.

        Google Analytics
On our websites we use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”)) to gather statistical information. Google Analytics uses "cookies" which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how you use the site (including your IP address). This information is usually transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there.
This website uses Google Analytics with the extension "gat._anonymizeIp();" to ensure that IP addresses are stored in anonymised form (= IP masking). This means that your IP address is only processed by Google in an abbreviated version in order to exclude direct personal identification. When IP anonymisation is activated, Google will truncate/anonymise the last octet of the IP address for Member States of the European Union as well as for other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to and abbreviated by Google servers in the USA. Google has certified that it adheres to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access and enforcement, and is registered with the “Safe Harbor” programme set forth by the US Department of Trade. On behalf of the website provider Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website provider. The IP address transmitted under Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.
By using this website you agree to let Google collect and process the data generated as you browse the site as described above and for the above purposes.
You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. However, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.
Furthermore you can prevent Google’s collection and use of data (cookies and IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link: (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en).

For more information about Google Analytics and data protection, please visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en or http://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/analytics/privacyoverview.html

      3. Functionality cookies

These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience. By using the Website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

These cookies allow the Website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, search parameters e.g. clothing sizes, colour and product line, your country and preferred language) and provide enhanced, more personal features. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

      4. Targeting or advertising cookies

These cookies collect information about your browsing habits in order to make advertising relevant to you and your interests.

These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign. They are usually placed by advertising networks with our permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by the other organisation.

        Social plug-ins and buttons
On our website we use social plug-ins from Facebook, Twitter and Google+ in order to personalise your experience in our online shop. We use the Facebook "Like" button, the “Tweet” button from Twitter and the "Google +1" button. These are services provided by the US enterprises Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA), Twitter, Inc. (1355 Market St, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103) und Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA).

When you visit a page on www.olsen.co.uk that contains one of these plug-ins, your browser will connect with Facebook, Twitter or Google and contents are loaded from these pages. Your visit to our shop can then be tracked back by Facebook, Twitter and Google, even if you are not actively using the function. If you have an account with Facebook, Twitter or Google, you can use a social plug-in to share information with your friends. Olsen has no influence over the content of the plug-ins and data transfer.

On their respective websites Facebook, Twitter and Google provide detailed information about which information they collect, why they collect it and how they use this information. Here you will also find further information about your rights and the privacy settings you can use to protect your privacy.

        Twitter privacy policy (https://twitter.com/privacy)

        Google support page (http://support.google.com/plus/?hl=en)

By logging out of your social network accounts (Facebook and Google+) and deleting cookies you can prevent Facebook, Twitter and Google from collecting information about you during your visit to www.olsen.co.uk.

A guide to behavioural advertising and online privacy has been produced by the internet advertising industry which can be found at www.youronlinechoices.eu. The guide contains an explanation of the IAB's self-regulatory scheme to allow you greater control of the advertising you see.

    2. Using browser settings to manage cookies

You can specify in your browser settings, whether your computer should accept cookies. Most browsers automatically accept cookies for information use on the cookies through your browser, see the help options of your browser. Our cookies can be rejected or deleted at a later date.
